Message from the Principal, November 2017

Dear CHS Parents,

If you haven’t already heard the exciting news, I want to make sure I share it with all CHS stakeholders in this month’s principal’s message. On Monday November 13th, I was joined by some of the members of our Instructional Leadership Team at a ceremony at the County Executive’s office at the Towson Courthouse. Mr. Kamenetz invited Catonsville High School to this special event because we recently received honors as one of the 25 highest-rated high schools in Greater Baltimore for 2018 by The Baltimore Business Journal. Eastern Tech, Western Tech, Carver, Dulaney, Hereford and Towson received honors as well. This was a great showing for CHS and BCPS as the rankings were based on 6 local school districts. BCPS held 7 of the top 20 spots. I am very proud of our accomplishments here at CHS and excited that the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and parents were highlighted by the BBJ and subsequently by the County Executive. On Monday afternoon, we received an Executive Citation to recognize this tremendous accomplishment. If you happen to be in the main office any time soon, please take a moment to read the citation that we have on display. I am very proud to be part of the CHS team and was honored to represent our school at this celebration. Interim Superintendent Verletta White and several school and elected officials were in attendance to help honor CHS. I’m really excited that our school, our students, our teachers, and our parents received the recognition they deserve. This was such a great way to spread the good news to our community about all of the great things going on in our school each day and it was a wonderful way to kick off American Education Week.

The invitation was for each principal to bring a select few individuals from each school to join in the recognition ceremony. Please know that I represented each and every CHS family member on Monday afternoon. Great schools do not receive honors for outstanding achievement without the hard work of all stakeholders. This ranking is a direct result of our faculty’s dedication and commitment to our students. It is also a recognition of our amazing students and all that they accomplish in their four years at CHS. And finally, it’s a direct result of the value our community and families place on education.

Congratulations to all for being recognized.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Mr. Ames
