Comet Writing Center

All student writers deserve a reader! The Comet Writing Center (CWC) peer tutors are available to work with fellow students of all abilities and levels, from standard to AP, on any type of writing – not just papers with “problems.”  The CWC tutors, who are seniors completing a humanities internship at CHS, are trained to assist with prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing. Let us help you draft your college application essay, revise your English paper, or polish your resume!

The CWC is open from early October through late May, with tutors available after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:15-3:15, and during all lunches on B Days. Located in rooms 321-322, the CWC usually can accommodate drop-ins, but we prefer scheduled appointments: please reserve your tutoring session by filling in your name on the schedule sheet taped to the door of room 321.

Look for the updated CWC schedule in September.

Note: Although tutors help students through the writing process, tutors cannot write assignments for students, comment on grades, or proofread papers. Tutors can, however, offer tips so students may do their own proofreading.  Overall, CWC tutors seek to help students become better writers through a conversation about writing that involves both the tutor and the student.
