Guidance Department
410-887-0809

The Department of Student Services is designed to provide academic and support services to the families in our school community. Students are assigned to a 9th grade counselor in the freshman year. In grades 10-12, students are assigned alphabetically according to last name so that counselors can work more effectively with an entire family and follow students until graduation.

Counselor assignments are listed below:

9th Grade
A-Go
Gr-N
O-Z

Communication

All counselors have voicemail and e-mail access. Please contact the office of student services with any questions or concerns you may have.  Although students are encouraged to work with the counselor to whom they are assigned when discussing academic matters, they are encouraged to request an appointment with whomever they feel most comfortable regarding personal issues.

Ms. Barbara Vogel is our part-time college counselor and is available for appointments with students and parents on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and on Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Christine Tomback is our school-to-careers transitioning facilitator who coordinates our work-study and internship programs.

Mission Statement

The counselors at Catonsville High School  are committed to delivering a program of guidance and counseling services to all students based upon the goals of school success, mastering decision-making and career development skills, and demonstrating intrapersonal and interpersonal competencies. These services will be provided with a combination of direct counseling interventions (individual and group counseling, classroom guidance), consultation services to staff and parents, and the coordination of related initiatives to foster the three statewide goals of a school counseling program. The effectiveness of the program is measured by formative and summative evaluations.
