| PHILOSOPHY The Mathematics Department of Catonsville High School agrees with and supports the NCTM's Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics. We believe the learning of mathematics should be an active, collaborative process in which "knowing" mathematics is "doing" mathematics. In the past decade, many aspects of "doing" mathematics have changed. We believe that the curricula must provide opportunities for all students to develop an understanding of mathematical models, structures, and simulations applicable to many disciplines. Finally, the great advances in technology has impacted the study of mathematics. We believe that calculators, computers, and other technology should be an integral part of a student's study of mathematics.
